Overview
The South Carolina Coalition for Mathematics & Science (SCCMS) is pleased to offer Duke Energy Science Night resources to K-5 schools in the Duke Energy service area of South Carolina (see map below). The program is returning for the 2022-2023 school year after a highly successful initial launch in 2021-2022. Schools which hosted events during SC STEM Education Month in the Spring of 2022 found the resources to be a great way to engage students and families in the joy of experiencing science and other STEM learning.
In 2022-2023, 40 Duke Energy Science Night kits are being awarded to schools through an application process that includes a review of school need, demographics, and location. The kit includes hands-on activities, a planning guide, activity instructions and materials for up to 200 participants along with planning guidance from SCCMS staff. School events will be scheduled to coincide with the celebration of SC STEM Education Month 2023 (March 14 – April 14).
